Shares

#Workfromhome is not as easy as it may seem for the first few days of the lockdown. It is time to respect the efforts of freelancers who mostly work from home. One may find sitting at home interesting when there are no restrictions on stepping out. But when it comes to an “official lockdown state,” it becomes quite difficult to keep yourself in. Quarantine not only restricts our physical movement but can also impact many mentally.

Do we have an option? No! Staying at home is our only fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the challenge is how to stay fit while staying at home? World Health Organization (WHO) recommends doing at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity workout per week or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity workout per week. Believe us; these recommendations can be followed while staying at home. When your favorite Bollywood stars can do it why can’t you?

Here are a few workouts and staying fit recommendations for you to maintain your health during quarantine-

  • Have you heard of the phrase-“Yoga se hi hoga” Well, there is no doubt in it. Yoga works wonders for your mind, body, and soul. One Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation can burn around 14 calories and if you practice it in repeat regularly, you can also lose weight. Each rep has 24 asanas or 12 rounds. Apart from Surya Namaskar, you can practice simple asanas at home. Take some inspiration from Baba Ramdev and start your morning fresh and active. Yoga not only has excellent health benefits, but it also rejuvenates your mind and soul which is the need for an hour.

  • Fitness Influencers to your rescue-It is the time to find the videos of fitness influencers on YouTube and follow the workout regime they follow. It is easy to find a rated influencer’s video and have a 30-minute workout with the influencer. If you stay true to this routine, you will not need a video next time. You can be your motivation to workout daily. We recommend the POPSUGAR fitness channel on YouTube for a high-intensity workout and Yoga with Adriene for some yoga.

In 20 minutes you can do 20 and it’s a great workout. I do 108. Yoga to the rescue.” We can’t agree more! Jacqueline also shared 2 more videos of her performing different asanas.

The Namastey London actress Katrina Kaif is the queen of the workout as we all know. She also shared a video on her Instagram feed of her workout with her trainer. The caption says, “Can’t go to the gym so sharing the workout that works, and I did at home. Stay safe and be active if u can Squat & Side Leg Lifts – 3 sets x 20 reps, Reverse Lunge – 3 sets x 15 reps, Situp – 3 sets x 20 reps, Pushup – 3 sets x 15 reps (you can substitute with incline pushups or knee pushups), Plank to ‘T’ – 3 sets x 15 reps, and Mountain Climbers – 4 slow and 15 tempo x 3 sets.” Sara Ali Khan also shared an IGTV video of her working out from home. The Bollywood heroes are no less. Vicky Kaushal shared a picture of dumbles stacked together and the caption says, “Work(Out) from home.”

  • Household things to rescue- You don’t need gym equipment at home to work out. You can carry on with your workout on the stairs of your house or for example, use a chair to work out. Start with doing up and down on the stairs as a warm-up exercise. Use a chair to support your squats. You can stand over the chair and lower down until your butt reaches the seat. However, the same chair can also be used to support your upper body workout. If you want to use some weight, you can use a jug of water to your rescue.
  • Take Workout breaks while working-Sometimes it becomes monotonous working from home. If you are tired of sitting in one place and using your laptop, try taking workout breaks in between your work sessions. For that, you don’t need to do much. Just walk around for a few minutes or do spot jogging for a few minutes. Do some stretching after walking exercises. This will push you to work harder and also break the monotony of working from home.
